On the main menu, click <strong>Billing<\/strong>, then <strong>Charges and Payments<\/strong>, then the next <strong>Charges and Payments<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2.&nbsp; Select a patient by typing in their <strong>Patient Chart<\/strong>\nnumber, or clicking the magnifying glass and\nlooking up a patient.&nbsp; Next hit Tab (<em>on your keyboard<\/em>), and the cursor will move\nto the <strong>Billing<\/strong>\nnumber field.&nbsp; This field should\nauto-populate with the next higher number (<em>each\nnew billing will be 1 greater than the previous<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. &nbsp;Tab again and the cursor will move to the <strong>Created<\/strong> field.&nbsp; At this time the program will auto-populate the Created field using the &#8220;Default entry date&#8221; (<em>see session 1, User Preferences<\/em>).&nbsp; At the same time, the <strong>Provider<\/strong>, <strong>Co-Pay<\/strong>, and possibly <strong>Location<\/strong>, will auto-populate using information entered in the patient&#8217;s record and the provider&#8217;s record.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"811\" height=\"441\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2kmedicalbilling.net\/Lytec-Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Lytec-Charges-and-Payments.png?resize=811%2C441&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-745\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2kmedicalbilling.net\/Lytec-Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Lytec-Charges-and-Payments.png?w=811&amp;ssl=1 811w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2kmedicalbilling.net\/Lytec-Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Lytec-Charges-and-Payments.png?resize=300%2C163&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2kmedicalbilling.net\/Lytec-Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Lytec-Charges-and-Payments.png?resize=768%2C418&amp;ssl=1 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 811px) 100vw, 811px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>4.&nbsp; As seen above, there should be a check mark\nin the <strong>Bill<\/strong>\ncolumn, next to <strong>Patient<\/strong>\nand the <strong>Insurance<\/strong>.&nbsp; The first &#8220;transaction detail&#8221; line\nwill also appear with a <strong>Date <\/strong><strong>From<\/strong> and <strong>Date To<\/strong>, and the <strong>Provider<\/strong>\nfield should also have auto-populated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5.&nbsp; The <strong>Billing Status Code<\/strong> is a free-form field, that is\navailable for your filtering purposes.&nbsp;\nThat means you can create your own custom &#8220;Billing Status\nCode&#8221; values and use that as a criterion for including or excluding a billing\nwhen printing claims or running\ncertain reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6.&nbsp; An example would be creating a code such as <strong>HOLD<\/strong>.&nbsp; When printing claims you could exclude\n&#8220;Billing Status Code: HOLD&#8221; and prevent any claims with that status\ncode from printing.&nbsp; On the flip side you\ncould reprint all claims with &#8220;Billing Status Code: HOLD&#8221; to rather\nthen reprinting all claims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7.&nbsp; Getting back to the &#8220;transaction\ndetail&#8221; lines, click in the <strong>Diagnosis<\/strong> field, you can either type in\nthe diagnosis (<em>ex: 402.91, as long as it\nhas been entered into the diagnosis codes list already<\/em>), or click the\nmagnifying glass that will appear and lookup an existing code.&nbsp; If the diagnosis code has not already been\nentered, you can add one on-the-fly by clicking the magnifying glass, then the <strong>Add\u2026<\/strong>\nbutton (<em>see the first section of this\nsession for help with adding new diagnosis codes<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8.&nbsp; To move to the next field hit <strong>Enter<\/strong> (<em>on your keyboard<\/em>) or click in the <strong>TX Code<\/strong>\nfield.&nbsp; Just like the Diagnosis field,\nyou can enter the CPT Code if you know it (<em>and\nit has already been entered in the Transaction Codes list<\/em>), or click the\nmagnifying glass to look up an existing code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9.&nbsp; Enter any <strong>Modifiers<\/strong> (<em>M1, M2, M3, M4, etc\u2026 if required<\/em>), a <strong>Place of Service<\/strong>, which is the <strong>PoS<\/strong>\ncolumn (<em>see item 9 of the Entering New\nTransaction Codes section of this manual<\/em>), the charge <strong>Amount<\/strong> (<em>if it did not pull from the Fee Schedule, or was not set on the\nProcedure Code&#8217;s default<\/em>), and the <strong>Units<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10.&nbsp; You can add additional detail lines by\nhitting <strong>Insert<\/strong>\n(<em>on your keyboard<\/em>), or click the <strong>Detail<\/strong>\nbutton, then click <strong>Add<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>11.&nbsp; Click <strong>Save<\/strong> when finished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>12.&nbsp; Also, with any of the detail lines\nhighlighted, you can hit <strong>F4<\/strong> (on your keyboard), or click <strong>Detail<\/strong>,\nthen <strong>More\nDetail<\/strong>, for additional line item options and information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>13.&nbsp; You can also see more Billing level information by hitting <strong>F8<\/strong> (<em>on your keyboard<\/em>), or click the <strong>Billing<\/strong> button, then <strong>Bill Options<\/strong>.&nbsp;
