Setting up a default patient in Lytec can save time on future patient entries by having certain pieces of information Automatically populate.\u00a0 For example, if all of your patients see the same doctor, or are located in the same state, those pieces of information can appear automatically in new patient entries.<br><br>02. On the\nnext screen, you will see the same screen you would see when entering a new\npatient, or editing an existing patient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>04. Anything\nentered on the 8 tabs here will automatically carry over to any new patient\nthat is entered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>05.&nbsp; It is recommended to place a check mark in\nthe <strong>Bill\nPatient Automatically<\/strong> box on the Patient Information tab, and in the\n<strong>Bill Insurance Automatically<\/strong>\nboxes on the Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary tabs.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>06.&nbsp; You may also want to place a check mark in\nthe <strong>Accept\nAssignment<\/strong> boxes on those insurance tabs if your practice does\naccept assignment (<em>payment to practice<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>07.&nbsp; It is also recommended to place check marks\nin the <strong>Signature\non File \/ Assign <\/strong><strong>Payments<\/strong> and <strong>Release of Information Authorized<\/strong>\nboxes on the Claim Information tab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>08.&nbsp; Selecting a default <strong>Provider<\/strong> on\nthe associations tab might also be a good idea if all patients see\nthe same doctor, or if you have a single-provider practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>09.&nbsp; Click <strong>OK<\/strong> when finished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADDING A NEW DEFAULT PATIENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>01.\u00a0 To enter a new patient, click <strong>Lists<\/strong>, then <strong>Patient<\/strong>, then <strong>Patients<\/strong>, on the menu.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"623\" height=\"514\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2kmedicalbilling.net\/Lytec-Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/image-17.png?resize=623%2C514&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-698\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2kmedicalbilling.net\/Lytec-Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/image-17.png?w=623&amp;ssl=1 623w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2kmedicalbilling.net\/Lytec-Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/image-17.png?resize=300%2C248&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 623px) 100vw, 623px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>02.&nbsp; At the top of the window there is a <strong>Patient Chart<\/strong>\nfield.&nbsp; You can either specify your own\nchart number, or leave it blank and allow the program to automatically generate\none.&nbsp; If left blank the chart number is\ngenerated by taking the first 6 characters of the last name, and combining it\nwith a 4-digit number starting with 0000.&nbsp;\nFor example, George Washington would be assigned the chart\nWASHIN0000.&nbsp; See item <strong>3c<\/strong> in\nthe <strong>Setting Up\nGeneral Preferences<\/strong> section above for more options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>03.&nbsp; Starting with the <strong>Patient Information<\/strong> tab, at minimum\nenter the <strong>Last\nName<\/strong>, <strong>First Name<\/strong>, <strong>Address 1<\/strong> (<em>street\naddress<\/em>), <strong>City<\/strong>,\n<strong>State<\/strong>,\n<strong>Zip Code<\/strong>,\n<strong>Home Phone<\/strong>,\n<strong>Sex<\/strong>,\n<strong>Co-Pay<\/strong>\n(<em>if necessary<\/em>), and <strong>Birth Date<\/strong>.&nbsp; It is also recommended the <strong>Bill Patient\nAutomatically<\/strong> box be checked.&nbsp;\nOptionally, select up to 2 <strong>Race<\/strong> values, <strong>Ethnicity<\/strong>, and <strong>Language<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>04.&nbsp; Next click on the <strong>Primary Insurance tab<\/strong>.&nbsp; Select an Insurance Carrier by clicking the magnifying\nglass icon next to <strong>Insurance Code<\/strong> field, then make the\nappropriate&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; selection and click <strong>OK<\/strong>.&nbsp; If the patient&#8217;s Insurance Carrier is not\nalready in the list, you can add it on-the-fly by clicking the <strong>Add\u2026<\/strong>\nbutton.&nbsp; Next select the <strong>Type<\/strong>\nthat best describes the insurance.&nbsp; Enter\nthe <strong>Insured ID\nNumber\/MBI<\/strong> (<em>Policy Number<\/em>)\nand if applicable the <strong>Group Number<\/strong>.&nbsp;\nThe <strong>Legacy\nMedicare ID<\/strong> is for patient\u2019s old pre-MBI ID.&nbsp; If the patient is not the insured party,\nclick the <strong>Set\nInsured\u2026<\/strong> button and change the <strong>Relation to Insured<\/strong> to the appropriate selection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>05.&nbsp; Note that if the patient is not the insured,\nand you click the <strong>Set Insured\u2026<\/strong> button, you are given\n3 choices:&nbsp; Self, Another Patient, and\nGuarantor.&nbsp; A Guarantor is a person who\nis not a patient at your practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>06.&nbsp; It is recommended <strong>Bill Insurance Automatically<\/strong> and <strong>Accept Assignment<\/strong>\n(<em>if this applies to your practice<\/em>) be\nchecked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>07.&nbsp; Optionally or when applicable, you can also\nenter Prior Authorizations in the <strong>Authorization<\/strong> field, and a claim number if the\ninsurance carrier has issued one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>08.&nbsp; If the patient has a secondary, and possibly\na tertiary insurance, click on those tabs <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>and repeat\nsteps 4 through 7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>09.&nbsp; Next is the <strong>Associations<\/strong> tab.&nbsp; Here you can specify <strong>Provider<\/strong> and if applicable, what <strong>Facility<\/strong>\nservices are being rendered at.&nbsp; Any\nentities specified here will automatically populate future charge entries in\nthe Billing: Charges and Payments screen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10. Next click on the <strong>Claim Information<\/strong> tab.\u00a0 At minimum its recommended <strong>Signature on File \/ Assign Payments<\/strong>, and <strong>Release of Information Authorized<\/strong> be checked.\u00a0 The information on this window, and under the <strong>More Information\u2026<\/strong> button can be entered later (<em>in Billing: Charges and Payments<\/em>).\u00a0 Do note that information entered here on the Patient, will automatically carry over into future Charge entries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>11. Next click\non the <strong>Diagnosis\/Reminders<\/strong>\ntab.&nbsp; Here you can specify\n&#8220;Permanent Diagnosis\nCodes&#8221; which can automatically populate Charge entries.&nbsp; This option is specified at Admin,\nPreferences, on the Charges and Payments tab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>12. On the <strong>Contacts<\/strong>\ntab you can enter general and emergency contact information for the patient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>13. If a\npatient has been scheduled an appointment in Lytec, you can see any past or future appointments\non the <strong>Appointment<\/strong>\ntab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>14. Last is the <strong>Patient Images<\/strong> tab.\u00a0 Here you can view any attached images. To attach an Image, click the <strong>Patient<\/strong> button, on the right-hand side of the Patients window, then click the <strong>Images\u2026<\/strong> button.\u00a0 In the next window you can <strong>Scan<\/strong> (<em>using a TWAIN Compatible scanner<\/em>), or <strong>Import<\/strong> an already scanned file.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>15.&nbsp; Click the <strong>Save<\/strong> button, on the right-hand side\nof the screen when finished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DEFAULT PATIENT SETUP 01.
